Takela King
Takela King is a dancer and choreographer based in Phoenix, Arizona. Her creative work combines contemporary choreography and improvisational techniques to understand the human condition. She is a member of the Be Kind Crew, a dance crew that promotes kindness and social-emotional learning skills to Kindergarten through 8th-grade students across the nation. Takela is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and a Certificate in Ethics from the Herberger Institute of Design and the Arts at Arizona State University. Takela has performed annually in productions at Arizona State, including Transitions, Something Fresh, and Dearest Masochist. She is currently working on her senior capstone piece entitled "Possessions with a Capital People,” an excerpt of her thesis project, Defendit Numerus, for Barrett, the Honors College. Takela plans to graduate in the spring of 2022 and hopes to continue to create work within the dance community.
