Xochilt Huitzil

Xochilt Huitzil is a student at Arizona State University (ASU) pursuing her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Education with a Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. She has been awarded the Special Talent Award Scholarship from ASU. Within her community, she is a member of the Arizona Soul Edition, a collective of artists recently awarded the Vibrant City Arts Grant funded by the City of Tempe Arts Council. Professionally, she is a Salsa dancer for Stilo Dance Company directed by David Olarte and Carla Leon. Xochilt also performs with Salsa Dance Company Miraqui directed by Natasha Tia. Recently, she created a dance film titled “A Little of Me, A Little of You” that was showcased at ASU’s Spring Dance Festival 2021. Her work “Cinnamon Skin” premiered in ASU’s Fall Forward show in 2020. As an educator, Xochilt interned at inner-city Phoenix Washington High School and Rumba Dance Studio in the Spring of 2021.
